#182 - Sloth-like Tendencies

Well, last night, damn near killed me.

I got into bed just around five AM after handing in my assignment short story. I feel that there are characters I created for this detective mystery that might make for a good series of books.

I woke up this morning at nine thirty, dazed and confused. Robyn had left to visit the local college, and I did not hear her leave the house.

Yesterday was a busy day for the entire household with the film crew, the college course hunting and my full day of writing.

I think it’s fair to say that we were all exhausted.

I spent the day indulging in sloth-like behaviour. I watched “Hamnet” on Prime Video. I had wanted to go see that one in the theaters but couldn’t find any takers. I think the end is worth sticking around for the slower parts of the movie.

I watched a couple of episodes of Marvel’s “Wonderman.” The show, for me, has the right balance of humor going for it. The duo of Ben Kingsley and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in what is essentially a buddy comedy works perfectly together. It’s nice to see Marvel making some good choices for a change.

I napped for a bit and watched some YouTube videos. I rewatched a home cook making Dishoom’s Ruby Chicken recipe and made up a list of all the ingredients I currently need to make the dish. There are more than a few dishes I want to make out of that cookbook, including the black daal and a couple of crab recipes as well.

For dinner, I wasn’t super hungry. I reheated a single-serving steak pie I had made and frozen a little while ago and tested out the new air fryer setting on my oven with some onion rings and fries. They were the stragglers left in the bag, so there weren’t many to go around, but I satisfied both of us. And steak pie, I’m never going to complain about that.

When Robyn returned from her college tour, she was supercharged about a course that helps youth. More excited about it than I’ve seen her about anything in a while. She really feels compelled to help people and to give back. It is just one of the many reasons she is lovable.

She has my full support to pursue this exciting new adventure.

I’m going to keep this blog short. I have to leave the house at seven thirty to help transport the video gear the kiddo’s crew rented for the shoot. I’ll end tonight reading and maybe watching a show with Robyn, but it’s already eleven o’clock and I have no idea where all the time has gone today.

Until the morrow.
