#230 - Police Checks and CSIS

Both Robyn and I were exhausted from the week. Are you getting tired hearing that I am constantly tired?
Needless to say, we took the opportunity to sleep in and get some well-needed rest. I woke up first and ordered Tim Hortons for breakfast to treat my wife to breakfast in bed. An episode of Bill Maher was available to watch, and it went well with our meal.
Robyn had plans to spend time with a friend, and she arrived a little after noon. The two went off shopping, and then a message from our other friends came in saying they had something for us to pick up. Robyn and her friend went over for a visit while I read more of my books on CSIS and watched some YouTube videos. I had an episode of Criminal Record to watch as well.
I did a bit of a spa session and just felt like I needed to give myself some relaxation time.
After Robyn returned, we both napped for a bit before I got up and sat outside, enjoying the sun and the warmth. It had rained buckets earlier and had turned out to be a wonderful day.
Last night, my friend Paul contacted me asking if I had any copies of the songs we recorded as young lads. A few years ago, I’d spent some time digitizing the music off the old cassette tapes. I even sent him some old lyric sheets that had the chords for my guitar parts on it.
He has a notion to input them into an AI song program and work with them. I told him to let me hear what he comes up with. I am not a big fan of AI anything, but if it re-sparks his creative engine, then all the power to him.
My third book about CSIS arrived today. This one is about the hiring process and a personal story of how it went wrong. It’s on the more critical side of the agency, and I thought it might be good for adding colour to my story and getting an opposing opinion.
I spent a good deal of time outside in the backyard. I planted some tomatoes and watered a few things the rain missed. My neighbour down the way started barbequing and the amount of smoke was almost comical, if I hadn’t been choking on it at the time. You can always tell when people use olive oil to BBQ and they have their heat way too high.
Last night we were pleased to see that Disney had released the fifth season of Waiting for Wrexham. The story of a plucky Welsh football club bought by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McCellhennie. We got suckered into it last year and ended up really enjoying the show. It has a bit of a story to it, and the locals, and the players are as good as any made up character in any other tv series.
Robyn headed out to get her police reference check so she could pick up some part time work helping people who need assistance.
I played some chess online to keep my streak going and then returned to my CSIS research, before watching some more historical YouTube videos about the naval darts of the Mary Rose naval ship from the mid-fifteenth century.
Yeah, I have eclectic interests.
Tomorrow we are getting up early to drive to Niagara to pick up some flowers at the greenhouse my sister works at. Early means around seven AM. Much too early for a long weekend in my opinion, but we do love having our planters filled with lots of blooms.
We both ended the day reading our books and called it a night around eleven PM.
And that was all there was to say about today.
Until tomorrow.
