#260 - Overtime and Meatballs

I started work at nine feeling well rested.

The day started with a bowl of All Bran with prunes and a cup of vanilla earl grey.

I had a background to paint that was going to take me all day to complete. It had two parts to it. The first was the regular painting and the second was the same painting but with a lightningi effect added on to each of the layers.

The file size on something like that starts to get out of hand. Luckily, my computer was able to handle the large size without too much trouble.

I offered to take some overtime hours to help get things moving along this week. I spent the morning painting, and our early meeting was cancellated allowing me to concentrate on the task at hand.

A lunch, Robyn and I took a walk around the neighbourhood since we had a one o’clock meeting. I despise meetings that start at one!

We got back with just enough time for me to heat up one of the burgers I cooked on Friday. The smoky cheddar and tomato made for a delicious lunch.

After the meeting it was right back at it. I continued to paint until five when I stopped to take a break. I cooked up some meatballs and sauce for dinner and boiled some eggs to have as snacks or a quick meal.

Robyn had her support work to do, so I went back to the computer to do some overtime hours while she was gone. I ended up doing about two and a half hours of extra work, which allowed me to finish the painting with the two states.

Robyn returned before I finished working, and when I was done we watched an episode of Dutton Ranch and the Waiting for Wrexham. I enjoyed both episodes.

I took my sleep aids again. All three and am hoping to feel energized tomorrow after a good night’s sleep.

The weather has cooled down significantly, and we have the windows open tonight. I love sleeping with them open this time of year. The room and air always feel fresher this way.

Kiddo #1 sent us a picture of the garage she was painting today, continuing with the work we started on our weekend trip. It’ll do her some good to keep busy and get some outdoor exercise. And she gets to spend some quality time with her grandparents.

I’ve been so busy lately that I am behind on my word quota for the month. I thought I would have more time at the cottage to write, but there wasn’t much time for anything but working and sleeping. Maybe next time I go there I will get some time to write. Or I’ll have to make the time, which tends to be the case. No one will give you time to write, you have to take it.

I’ll be working from home tomorrow so I can get more hours in. Those three or more hours I lose commuting can be better spent doing overtime. And I get the extra cash as a bonus while paying less. Commuting isn’t free!

Speaking of more money.

My stocks have done well this week with the rumoured cease fire deal between the US and Iran. It’s moments like this when I have to consider selling my shares as they are up enough to make some profits.

I haven’t decided to sell yet. For now, I will continue to hold my shares and just wait and see how things go.

I received a free day of all the perks from Chess.com the other day which allowed me to do as many puzzles, courses and game analysis as I wanted. When I had a paid membership, I did all kind of chess puzzles all the time. Every free moment I would open the app and solve a puzzle. It was nice to be able to do more of those for at least one day.

It was an unexpected gift they give to people on what they call their “Pawnaversary.”

Cute.

It’s midnight and I am exhausted.

It’s going to be a full week.

I have the overtime, house chores to catch up on, Father’s Day this weekend and oh, I have a science fiction short story due on Sunday as well.

I’ll need to stay on top of things this week or it can easily get away from me.

Going to call it a night and get some well needed rest.

Until the next time!
