#299 - Four Flamed Fish Reunion

It was nice to sleep in a little today before starting work.
I went to the kitchen and made some breakfast. My dad made some breakfast sausages sometime ago and it seemed like a good time to fry them up. I started with a ftying pan filled with water to boil the sausages first. Then fileted them and fried as normal. I had some Scottish potato scones, which are like a Scottish hashbrown. A flat triangular bit of potato and flour. I fried an egg, made some toast and brewed a cup of tea.
What a great way to start the morning.
I had a painting to finish as well as a few approvals to do. It made more sense to get the approvals out the door, so the art director could look at them. After those were finished, we had a quick meeting with the supervisor and my counterpart to discuss a few internal issues, make some plans and then put them in motion.
Then it was time to do the finishing work on the painting I had going. It’s nice to just paint sometimes. I put in some earbuds and played some Peaky Blinders episodes as I worked.
Time flies when you are deep into the flow state.
By three, there were more paintings to be approved on the next show. I switched over to approval mode and got all but three revised and approved by the end of the day.
I was more than ready to start the weekend, feeling more tired than I should be. We missed our afternoon walk, as Robyn had an eye appointment. I should have walked after work, but I was in no mood for it.
Robyn and I went out onto the back deck, and we both fell asleep on the couch and chairs. The temperature was perfect for it. But eventually, Robyn had to leave for her extra work shift, and I went inside to our room to watch some YouTube videos.
Before she returned, kiddo #2’s friends and school mates started arriving to film some reshoots for his movie. He was running around the house desperately looking for flashlights that had been used as props in the movie. He eventually found them.
Robyn returned and suggested that we go to our favourite Thai place and get dinner. It’s been a while since we had been there. We ordered the same dishes we always do and the owner who greeted and sat us, knew what we wanted before we even ordered.
The Thai salad arrived first, and it was as good as I remembered.
Then came the entrée of Four Flamed Fish with a side of steam riced. Never have we been disappointed by this meal. I had a sweet ginger tea with my meal and Robyn ordered her trusty diet coke.
We waddled back to the car and drove home. When we pulled in the kids were still filming some scenes. I beelined for our bedroom and Robyn followed. We watched The Daily Show followed by Seth Meyers and then Robyn left with the kiddo for a long walk.
I put Batman Begins on, even though I have seen it multiple times.
I just needed something I could watch and rest to. Maybe not the best choice, but the movie still holds up.
Robyn returned around midnight and I was ready for bed, but I needed to do some wrtinging and keep my blog streak going. The temptation to skip a day and just go to bed was incredibly strong tonight. It’s taken all the will power I have to stay up as long as I have. As it nears one AM, I take solace in the fact that I won’t have to get out of bed until I am ready.
And I plan to make the most of what sleep I can get tonight.
Until tomorrow.
