#323 - Dying to Get Some Sleep
Share
I managed to get about three hours of sleep this morning and then at nine o’clock I started receiving requests from some of the painters who needed more work assignments.
Naturally, I was bleary-eyed and dopey from lack of sleep.
I handed out assignments and then went downstairs to make tea and toast with peanut butter. A little caffience wasn’t going to hurt.
My morning meeting was cancelled and that was fine by me. My eyes have been bothering me this week, becoming itchy and watery. Most likely due to allergies of some sort or another, but I meant I had been rubbing them red for days.
I imagine I wasn’t looking all the great to be on a Zoom call. So, I was glad to get off the hook for that one.
I did approvals and corrections until noon, when we took a break and went for a short walk. It was hot and sunny, and we both got a good sweat going.
After the walk, I grabbed an Alani energy drink and sipped at it. I was expecting to crash around three o’clock as I usually do after an all-nighter, but I think the Alani helped push me through to the end of the day.
We had a one o’clock meeting that was mostly just socializing amongst the team, talking about movies and books.
Then I was back to more of the same, approving and doing corrections. I played one episode of Peaky Blinders while I was working to help me stay focused.
By five I was ready to stop working and instead caught up one some YouTube videos I had missed on Sunday.
I joined Robyn on the back deck afterwards and promptly went in and out of consciousness while lying on the deck loveseat. Robyn left to do her work and I fell asleep, waking only when my snoring ripped me out of a peaceful slumber.
When I came back in, Robyn was already back from work and helping to create kiddo #2’s poster for his summer film. Looking at her working and knowing I wasn’t going to cook anything tonight, I offered to but everyone McDonalds for supper.
The family was all in for that idea.
I find after I use my brain a lot, like writing a short story all night, my grey matter craves salt. And McDonald’s food has plenty of that on offer.
I retreated to our room and watched some more videos until Robyn came back upstairs. We put on a John Oliver, and then we watched the first episode of Lanterns, DC’s comic book adaptation of Green Lantern.
I thought we would give it a try. I was pleased to see the actors involved and enjoyed all the performances. So far, it seems like this series might have chance to do well. We liked it enough to watch the next episode when it becomes available.
That got me up until now. It’s eleven o’clock and I am very ready to get some sleep.
I’ll pop my tart cherry pill and two magnesium glycinates to help ensure a good night’s sleep.
Until tomorrow.
