#328 - Wedding Bells and Dancing Shoes

We were able to sleep in this morning until ten am.

Robyn made us tea, English muffins with peanut butter and some eggs bites for a late breakfast.

We watched the rest of the season of Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed and really enjoyed it.

By the time that was done we had about an hour before we had to leave. We were invited to attend the wedding by our friends for their son’s wedding at the Burlington Golf and Country Club.

We both read our books to pass the time and then headed out to the bank to withdraw some cash for the newlyweds and then to Shopper’s Drug Mart to get a card.

Then we were onto the highway heading towards Burlington. The drive there was only abut twenty minutes from our house and it ended up in nice area of Burlington I had never seen. There were lovely old houses that overlooked the bay.

We arrived at the club on time and met our friends inside. The back of the wedding venue had big open windows overlooking the bay and the Burlington Skyway bridge off in the distance. Canada Geese gathered near the banks in droves eating the grass.

The food was amazing at this venue. They started with a parsnip and pear soup that blew everyone’s minds away. This was followed by a salad with goat cheese and candied almonds with a vinaigrette and a plumb wine poached pear. We all thought the poached pear was roasted beets at first, and we were all delighted to find out it was pear.

The main course was a striploin over a pureed potatoes with green beans. The steak was covered in a gravy as well. Although I hadn’t had beef in a while, I wasn’t as impressed by it as I was the first two courses. I am a bit of a steak snob to be fair. If I judge it as a wedding steak it was a nice bit of beef. And with the price of beef so high, I felt privileged to even have that option.

A chocolate mouse was served for dessert with tea and coffee.

So, all in all, the food was fantastic.

Later, they cleared the dance floor and the first dance began. It was a little unusual. Then again, so was their entrance music choice of Money for Nothing by Dire Straits.

The couples first dance was a dance song and instead of the slow waltzing a couple might usually do, the just cut a rug together. It was a great bit of fun.

Soon afterwards, the dance floor was opened to everyone, and Robyn and I joined almost everyone there to cut a rug. Next thing we know, glow bracelets are being handed out, and the party had officially started.

At nine they put out some pizzas and some small desserts for those who wanted a bit more. I had a small piece of pizza and a dessert.

By ten fifteen, Robyn and I were gassed and said our farewells, headed to the parkin lot and drove home.

We arrived home to a full house. Kiddo #1 had four friends and her brother gathered in our living room to watch movies and eat snacks. They are all a good bunch of kids, and we love that they come over to our house to hang out.

Robyn and I went upstairs to our room, and I laid down on the bed and closed my eyes for a while. Robyn read her book. By eleven I fired up the computer and did my writing for the day.

I am too tired to do too much tonight. I am all partied out.

Until tomorrow.
