#356 - Recouperation

Today was everything I wanted it to be.
I slept in until nine, and the best part was that I didn’t haven’t anywhere to be and no one was expecting anything from me. Robyn was up early working on paintings to get ahead for next week.
My case of Alani arrived from Amazon, and I unpacked them to put into the fridge. The price was finally right, and it worked out to be a bit cheaper than buying them at Walmart. And at Walmart they are often sold out.
Robyn wondered why I was up so early, and I responded by telling her not to worry because I was going straight back to bed. Which I did. I watched The Whisper Man starring Deniro and Ben Scott. It was a phycological thriller that I enjoyed. It hit all the right parts in the right place.
Continued to watch YouTube videos after that and I think I eventually ran out of things to watch. I grabbed some left-over pizza from the fridge and a now cool Alani energy drink.
So far, my goal of doing nothing today was going well. Robyn and the kids went out to have lunch at Boston Pizza, but I just wasn’t interested in leaving the house. After they returned, I got out of bed and headed downstairs to make a coffee with some ground up cloves in it. I’d watched some YouTube videos about the health benefits.
I sat outside on the front porch and sipped away. My neighbour’s car wasn’t in the driveway, so I got the lawnmower out and mowed their lawn. Bruce, who recently passed away, always cut his lawn in the criss cross pattern. I cut his lawn they way he would have wanted it and then tried to mow the back.
A couple of years ago they were broken into, so the back gate was locked, and I couldn’t get back there to take care of it. But I did my best to help his widow Jasmine while she has bigger things to deal with on her mind. He was a good neighbour, and I’ll continue to take care of the lawn for as long as its needed.
I went back to watching YouTube for awhile until Robyn was finished her work. She had an hour before starting her second job and there was an episode of Bill Maher to watch. We curled up together and watched until it was time for her to go.
I put on a Beach Boys documentary and got the laptop out.
One thing I learned during this documentary was that the Beach Boys basically split into two units. One with Brian Wilson and a group of studio musicians called the Wrecking Crew. The other guys in the band went out on tour and even had Glen Campbell join them on tour to replace Brian, coming back to record the vocals on mostly finished songs.
Our fridge is acting up again. The filtered water no longer works, likely due to the water lines being frozen. And the internal temperature of the fridge doesn’t match the display. I have a small battery-operated temperature sensor in the fridge.
I might need to unplug the thing and let it completely thaw out to get things back to normal again. This fridge is a real pain the arse.
Robyn decided to do some schoolwork reading this evening, so I took the opportunity to read some of The Sand Pebble Chapters after a week or two of not reading anything. I’ve just been too exhausted or busy. And when I had time, my eyes were tired from staring at my work monitor all day. It felt great to read purely for entertainment. I hope to end the evening by reading some more.
And was able to end the night reading my book.
Until tomorrow.
