#368 - Short But Sweet

I was up at seven after about three and a half hours of sleep.
I was feeling good after finishing the word challenge last night as well as having fun using dictation to write. I plan to experiment a little more with those techniques this month.
I felt good considering I’d slept very little. I was a bit later than usual getting to the station, but nobody noticed or cared.
The rain fell softly while I stood on the platform waiting for a train and I got to try out one of the micro umbrellas. And it worked just fine.
I listened to the Dune audiobook all the way to work, and I didn’t even pack my laptop in my bag this time. I was giving myself a bit of a day off. I still had to write this blog, but I wasn’t going to worry about writing on the train or at lunch.
I stopped and got a sandwich and chai latte at Starbuck’s on the walk to the studio and enjoyed it at my desk. We got a lot of things worked out during the day and I thought we made some strides towards a better future and opened some lines of communication.
Leaving work, I listened to more of the Dune audiobook and continued to listen while on the train. I was more than happy to return home, and both Robyn and I were more than ready to have a night in just relaxing and watching tv.
Some of that time was interrupted when kiddo #1 came in and needed a heart to heart. I feel like today was a day of getting things out in the open at home and at work. The kiddo was worried about the uncertainty of her future, and we talked her through all her options. She seemed to be in a better place afterwards.
Robyn and I ended the night watching a few episodes of the Reacher spinoff called Neagley. My writing teacher had said good things about it, but I didn’t think it was that great after two episodes. I think he said it started slow and got better though.
A couple of the scenes took place in my old favourite greasy spoon called The Patrician Grill. It was cool to see the old place in all its glory and sad to know it will be torn down soon.
It was clear that Neagley was primarily shot in the Toronto area as we recognized a lot of the areas. That’s always a fun game to play when watching a show.
Keeping this post short tonight so that I can get a good night’s sleep.
Until tomorrow.
