A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

I was up until 12:30 am last night getting my word quota. That’s better than staying up until 2 or 3 am for me. I was able to get out of bed by 7:47am, once again tricking myself by not having to do anything.
It seems to be working.
I didn’t start writing until later in the day, but I was still able to get more than my word quota accomplished. My spread sheet says I’ll need to write at least 2500 words a day to catch by months end.
In the last 19 days I have written just over 32,500 words, which is completely amazing to me. I expect February might see a jump in these numbers. Kind of like warming up your muscles before a race.
I finished reading a Mick Herron short story this morning as a reward for getting up earlier. The fourth season of HBO’s ‘Industry’ came out the other day, and I have been enjoying that in the mornings with a nice cup of tea, after reading. Starting my day of gently feels good, although I am aware it won’t last for much longer when I’ll need to get up and take the train into the city.
After dinner, we watched the ‘Game of Thrones’ spin off ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’. The premier episode did a good job as far as I was concerned. It seems like it will be its own thing with just enough spice and flavor of the original series to keep fans happy.
One thing I will change for tomorrow is to keep my laptop beside my bed at night. Then, if inspired to do so I can bang out a few words when I first wake up. Again, for this week there are no requirements other than to get up at an earlier time. But I might do a little work if the laptop is close to hand. We shall see. I do know if it’s downstairs in the basement I won’t go get it.
I do see myself reaching for a book first thing in the morning because that is a lesser path of resistance than writing. Not sure I’d produce anything coherent right now anyways.
All for now.
