A Quiet Day with Shyamalan

I printed out the two short stories I have been working on in January and was shocked to see how many pages each story was. One was 59 pages long and the other was 52.
These represent the longest stories I have written to date. And I still have more pages to add to get them finished. Its really cool to see that thick stack of papers. Somehow it makes them feel more real and substantial.
I didn’t do any writing in the morning or afternoon as I’d hoped today, but it did get about 700 words more written on one of the above-mentioned stories from about 6:30 to 7:30. I’m guesstimating because I was reviewing some books on writing as well and didn’t have my eye on the clock. The 700-word count is all the really matters.
I’ll take a break and watch the latest episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms as we didn’t get a chance to watch it last night. After that I’ll head back down to the dungeon to get some more words written. Hoping to exceed 3000 words written for the day.
The episode is finished and I really enjoyed it. They’ve successfully made it its own thing. Part of the Game of Thrones world but very different in tone. It is a comedy after all.
After that we watched a Netflix movie called Trap. It starred Josh Hartnett and was written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan. It was fun to see the city of Toronto standing in for Philadelphia, although they didn’t hide the fact very well.
This movie wasn’t great, I’ve seen much worse, but it did seem like a vehicle to launch Shyamalan’s daughter, Saleka Shyamalan’s music career. The whole premise was a bit of a stretch, but I watched it all the way to the end. Hartnett was pretty good in it.
Otherwise, it’s been a pretty quite day.
I hope to write another 2700 words in the evening sessions I am about to start right after posting this blog. Probably need 3 to 4 sprints to get that number.
And I am off.
Good night to all.
