Dictation Room Completed

I finished installing all the panels to help make my writing area soundproofed for dictation. I still need to get a good Mike set up, but honestly what I have right now, seems to be working just fine.
I may add some soundproofing as the year goes on, but last night I wrote just shy of 3000 words using this new set up. Imagine a pine wood frame with moving blankets stable to it as well as sound absorbing panels stuck to the drywall. The roof consists of another blanket as well as an unused mattress pad and duvet cover.
There’s definitely a decrease in ambient noise and more importantly my voice is no longer bouncing off hard objects and projecting through the house the vents. It also gives my writing area a more finished look, kind of like a sci-fi movie set.
But it’s clear that the new enclosure allowed me to dictate the entirety of everything I wrote yesterday. I only use the keyboard to make small corrections and occasionally to navigate around the page.
I stayed up late again last night and went to bed around 3 AM which meant I only woke up by 10:30 AM. I have to write another 6000 words by the end of tomorrow to meet the quota for the work challenge this month. I’m looking forward to February where it might work out will go back to 2026 words per day. By the end of the challenge this month, it’s creeped up to almost 3000 words a day.
We had a visit from our friends Paul and Laura laid this afternoon. They stopped by to bring our son, who had just had elective surgery, her world-famous double chocolate doughnuts. I managed to snag two for myself.
Later in the day we went out for groceries to pick up some items for a small gathering were having tomorrow in honour of my wife’s birthday with our close group of friends. It’s going to be a casual gathering where we serve spaghetti, meatballs and garlic bread.
I finished watching the mindset course from WGM today. I’m not sure that course was what I would have wanted to pay for, lifetime everything membership it was worth giving it a listen. You never know when you’re going to pick up a nugget of information that allows you to understand things the way you did before. They weren’t very long videos, so it wasn’t very much of an effort to listen to them.
Tomorrow start listening to and do lecture series called craft in the 21st century. This is a lecture series that will inform writers about all the changes and trends that affect readers and writers. How things have changed in this new century.
As far as streaks go, I am on day 30 of writing every day, day 23 of playing chess every day, and 123 days of never missing a blog post. As it stands today, I’ve written just over 57,000 words. Which when I think of the 48,000 words I wrote last year, it just blows my mind away.
There’s nothing like a challenge and a streak to help you achieve things you didn’t think you could do.
Okay time to go write a story.
