Fourth Consecutive Month of this Blog

Today marks a blogging streak of four months without any misses.

To be honest I wasn’t entirely sure I would be able to keep it up this long. But the streak challenge brought me to the computer to write a blog on the days I didn’t want to. Needless to say, I am proud to have achieved four months of blogging. It’s a small step in a much longer journey.

As of last night, I’ve written over 70,000 words since the beginning of January. It’s nice to see these numbers accumulating increasing over time. Just like it’s encouraging to see the printed pile of paper that represents my stories stacking up higher and higher.

I spent the day reading some Robert Crais and then typing to chapters by hand into my own manuscript format to learn lessons about basing information. Both of which are intertwined with each other.

To bolster my learning, I also watched week three of the Information Flow writers class. It has been some time since I’ve taken this class, so it was good to go back and refresh all the ideas. It’s often said that when you go back to studying these classes you’ll pick up on things you didn’t see the first time around due to having more experience with writing.

My 2026-word challenge is going well for the month of February. I’m just slightly behind on where I should be, but I will be caught up within less than a week’s time.

Last night I wrote from about 10 p.m. until about 1 a.m. and really got into the groove. The feeling I had while writing is the feeling I am constantly chasing. It’s like you can do no wrong and the writing is just fun. The words just flow out of your fingertips.

I notice that a forty-minute sprint I did at the end of the night produced double the words than the shorter thirty minute sprints. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of those words tumbled out of me in those extra ten minutes.

I did 30-minute sprints with breaks in between either walking on the treadmill or playing some online chess. Both seem to help with getting back into the writing saddle.

Finishing up by 1 a.m. also felt less stressful on the mind and body than staying up until 3 a.m. trying to get my quota. Whatever was making me feel exhausted seems to have run its course. I’m thinking the extra movement on the treadmill between writing sprints is helping with that.

I’ve been watching ’Peaky Blinder’ while on the treadmill, about half an hour at a time. I stopped a year or two ago midway through season three. It’s a pretty good treadmill show!

An episode of ‘A Knight of the Seven ‘Kingdoms’ was released early today. I thought maybe the United States had a holiday this weekend or something. The ‘or something’ turned out to be the Superbowl. I had no idea, mostly because I could care less about it. But if you enjoy it then have a fun Sunday. On the plus side, chicken wings will be on sale at grocery store this Monday.

I’ll have to remember to pick some up.

My BYOK writing device appears to be on the move. It left Phoenix Arizona and is now in California for some reason. The completely opposite side of the country from where I live, but I guess that’s how modern shipping systems work. I am excited to see if it can help convert wasted time into writing time.
