Graham Norton et al.

We went to our friends Paul and Laura’s house to celebrate my wife Robyn’s birthday. Paul cooked up a very delicious eggs Benedict served with fresh pineapples, strawberries and blueberries. He crisped up some homemade potato wedges and added some breakfast sausage links as well. Laura poured us champagne flutes of sparkling Cran-Razz Twist by Cider Keg. It was sweet, a little tart and bubbly. The perfect accompaniment to the eggs Beni.
We spent a good five and a half hours with them before leaving to top up our pantry and fridge. There is the possibility of large amount of snowfall in our area tonight and tomorrow, so we thought it was best to be prepared.
Walking around the store we both felt we were experiencing a food coma. Somehow, we managed to get it done and headed straight home to loosen the belt and top button.
We watched a couple more episodes of ‘Steal’, which is proving to be very entertaining.
Before heading out to our friends we watched a YouTube montage of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie’s appearances on Graham Norton (The video embedded above). Graham is in my humbled opinion one of the best, if not the best interviewer in the world. He gets celebrities so comfortable and talking about just about anything. You can see they are enjoying themselves and are less self-conscious of the audience.
There was a particularly funny moment when actor Jamie Dornan was talking about the awkwardness of filming sex scenes for Fifty Shades of Grey. He looked over at the other guests, Keenu Reeves to his immediately right followed by Whoopi Goldberg and said something like. “But you two all about that.” And the look on Whoopi’s face was priceless.
She went on to confess that she had never filmed a sex scene and gestured to her face and body as if that was all the explanation needed.
Jamie Dornan also talked about the little noise he makes to his co-start when he is supposed to be filming his climax in a sex scene. I will endeavor to make that sound from now on in my own rigorous love making.
I started writing later in the evening tonight, even though I did manage to wake up at 7:30 am just fine. Since I am still breaking in a new habit / routine, I stuck to the premise that all I had to do was be awake. I stayed in bed, fully alert and waited for my wife to wake up, just letting my mind wander and go wherever it wanted to.
I’ll continue writing the short story I started the other night to achieve my word quota. Last night I wrote a disturbing rape scene experienced by my main character. I’ve never written a scene like that, and I hope I did it justice. I said last night that all writing is practice and even if you write something that you may never use it was still worth the time spending the effort on your craft. I wrote the next scene in the story right afterwards. Tonight, I tackle the decision and action that alters the direction of that character’s trajectory.
I received the codes to get into my Lifetime Everything Membership over at WGM Publishing today. I have taken many courses there over the last two years and I really feel it has advanced my writing saving me years of toiling in the dark by myself. I can’t wait to get stuck into some of the courses I was interested in but couldn’t justify the expense at the time.
Okay, time to write some fiction.
