#343 - Last day

I was in no hurry to get out of bed. I watched some YouTube videos and read a chapter of my book before coming downstairs.

There was no breakfast served this morning as we were going to have brunch around one thirty or eleven.

I made myself coffee using their Nespresso machine and a pod I had never seen before and snagged a banana nut muffin to go with it and sat on one of the Muskoka chairs on the deck, enjoying the early morning sun.

I played a bit with my niece and nephew until brunch was served.

We had some sparkling rosé with a chicken pot pie, served with a salad and it was lovely. One of the better pot pies I had in a while.

We headed down to the dock to hang out in the sun. I refrained from swimming and just enjoyed being on the dock under the shade of my umbrella. People came and went but stayed the entire day and just enjoyed it all.  I spent times dozing, playing with my niece, and watching the others frolic in the water. Our kiddos went with their aunt into town to do some shopping in the little stores in Parry Sound and everybody came home with a little treasure.

Later, we headed up and while dinner was being made, we got all our gear together and packed the car.

Dinner was a nice chicken and lamb souvlaki with pita, tzatziki and a Greek salad. The lamb was amazing.

We had cake and Portuguese tarts for dessert and to celebrate everyone in the family who recently had a birthday or we about to.

Before we left, I gave portions of my pear and parsnip soup to my mother-in-law as well as three of the six poached pears.

With that we were ready to leave and we said our goodbyes.

The GPS said it would only take us two hours and thirty minutes to get home, which surprised me and told me that there likely wasn’t any bad traffic.

We headed out and eventually I put the car onto cruise control and just enjoyed the ride with barely any traffic.

About forty-five minutes into the drive, the car went into limp mode, and I pulled off to the side if the highway and shut the car off for a moment. Restarting the car put it straight back into limp mode with a flashing engine light. We were stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I started the car again and drove for a bit. The car seemed to use up fuel and almost run out of it. I could get up to 100 km but never past that without the engine slowing down.

After a while I released it wasn’t a gas flow issues, but it was the car limiting the rpm to 2100. We drove with the four ways on until Innisfil, where there was an Enroute stop. AI gassed the car up, hoping it might be a gas pressure issue, but it didn’t help at all.

We thought letting the car sit for a while might restart the computer, so we went into the Enroute place where the kids and Robyn got their Tim Horton’s fix.

Starting the car gave us the same limp mode icon and we decided to keep going. Nothing in the car sounded off or grating. I figured it was likely one of the sensors that had malfunctioned and was throwing the code. We drove home, never going faster than 100 km and somehow, we managed to do it without too many issues.

We arrived home around ten pm, an hour later than the GPS said we would, which all things considered, wasn’t too bad.

It was a long day, and we were ready for bed soon after we unpacked the car.

Until Tomorrow.
