More Word Count Stuff

I was able to get about 1300 words written by starting earlier in the day. The vibrating wristband worked. The fact that I was up writing the night before meant I fell back to sleep almost immediately.

I didn’t start writing until about 2:30pm for my first session and wrote about 900 words of a short story. I took a break for an hour or so and watched the show “Industry”. It was the premiere of season four.

There is an edginess to this show that I enjoy. I also really like the shows “Billions” and “Succession” for probably the same reasons.

After that it was back down into the writing dungeon to pound out some more words. I did a timed 25-minute writing sprint and finished approximately another 400 words.

That put my word count at 1275 for the day.

Next, we made dinner and did some groceries before watching a Netflix documentary about an English diamond heist. I also like a good heist picture.

I also managed to squeeze in a little bit of the Stranger Things documentary, and it seemed like they talked a bit about the writing of it that should be interesting. I’ll see if I can fit more of it into my day tomorrow when I take a writing break.

It’s a little after 10 pm, and I am back to the writing computer after I post this. The plan is to get the 2026 words per day completed by a decent hour so I can get enough sleep. I can’t stay up until 1am anymore and expect to wake up at 7am.

I figured I’ve got another hour of writing to get done to meet that quota.

Hopefully, I can start the first sprints in the morning and finish my writing quota before dinner time. Turning myself into a morning person is going to take weeks if not months, but I’ll get there eventually.

One thing tracking my word count on spreadsheet does it allow me to chart my progress. It is heartening to see the average daily word count increasing.

And in the last two writing sessions I have written more than the quota demanded. I expect to do the same this evening.

I am using the power of streaks to spur on my writing as well as completing this daily blog. So far, it seems to be working for both.
