One Month of Blogging Streak Completed

make the hat a watchcap

Now to some of you, this is a silly thing to celebrate. But for me is a win worthy of taking a minute to acknowledge.

There is a power in streaks, as I{ have talked about in other entries here. But the longer the streak goes the more powerful it becomes.

I think I prefer the idea of using streaks over the hard deadlines. Breaking a streak feels far more consequential than missing a deadline.

Deadlines can pass us by and then be forgotten, if they are the personal kind. But the streak gains more power as it ages and becomes your cheerleader. A deadline dares you to miss. Like a game of chicken.

The streak is Rocky's coach, Mickey Goldmill, yelling from the corner,

"You're gonna eat lightnin' and you're gonna crap thunder!"

A cheerleader. Someone who is in your corner.

The person, or voice in your head that says, "Take your victory lap. Back to training in the morning.
