Slow Horses and Roddy Ho

One of my favourite authors is Mick Herron. Don't know who that is you say? Mick is the author of the Slough House series of books that has been turned into the Apple TV series 'Slow Horses'.

You've got great casting with the likes of Gary Oldman as 'Jackson Lamb' and Kristen Scott Thompson as 'Diana Taverner'. Jack Lowden is great as River Cartwright. In fact, all the casting is perfect.

In the books, there is a character named Roddy Ho. A brilliant computer hacker with no sense of reality when it comes to his own life. He often over exaggerates and has an overinflated view of himself.

He truly is living in his own reality.

It got me thinking of how we all have that one person in our lives that is a little bit Roddy. The person who hears everything you say, reinterprets in their head, and then spits it back out, white-washed and reinvented to be what they wished you'd said. Or maybe just bent a little to keep it within their world view.

For Roddy, it makes his character extremely entertaining to watch.

And if you don't have a friend or family member that sounds just like Roddy... it might be you! ;)
