The Power of Streaks in Writing and in Life

I spent most of the evening messing about with website stuff, creating banners and linking things to my other sites like YouTube. 

Creating the banners scratched the artistic urges, but all the web stuff is just a grind for me. I try to get something done everyday because there is a power in keeping a streak going alive. 

I've taken some courses from Dean Welsey Smith on writing. One of the things he talks about often is the power of a streak. He tells of all the times he would have rather just gone to bed than write a another blog post. But the idea of losing the streak gets him to the keyboard and typing.

And the longer you can keep a streak going the more pressure and consequence there is to breaking it.

So, tonight is going to be Day One of my streak to write a blog post everyday. Deans been doing it for well over 4000 days in a row and counting.
