#170 - Viva la Bacon and Eggs!

Up early again this morning. Getting out of bed was rough and required some real will power. I contemplated calling in sick just to get a few more hours of sleep.
I made it to the station in good time, and the train was delayed as usual. The wind was biting cold on the platform, and my thick gloved hands were ice cold by the time I got on the train. The wind was so bad that everyone standing waiting for the train had their backs turned.
I was able to get a seat upstairs but had no compulsion to try and write. My fingers only warmed up as we arrived in Toronto forty minutes later.
I made a beeline at a fast-walking pace for the King and Bay streetcar stop. I just missed my streetcar and waited another ten minutes for one to show up. Then I was whisked away to the Sherboure stop where I disembarked to get some breakfast at The Patrician Grill.
The warm interior was a welcome relief from the brisk cold. I was the only patron in the restaurant. Just me and the two men who own it.
I had my order up in no time and only two young women entered the place the whole time I was there. Usually, there are at least five to ten patrons by the time I arrive. The cold weather must have kept people away.
I was the first of my crew at work and I made my self a masala tea from an instant packet. I didn’t hate it, buti didn’t love it either. At ten thirty, they company offered us an ounce of Bailey’s in honor of St. Paddy’s Day, and I added it to my masala tea. It went well with the masala spices.
I worked through lunch and was able to get some painting done as well as some more work on the library of assets. I mostly added trees to the tree library. We discovered some potential issues for the next episode and took steps to see if we could mitigate the problems. By the end we had a plan and we should know if it will pan out by tomorrow.
I stayed a half an hour later that expected talking to a colleague, so I grabbed the streetcar back to the station and managed to get a five-fifty-one train back home.
Robyn had made us sausages and mashed potatoes for dinner, and it was nice to have a meal ready and waiting. After dinner she and the kiddo went for a walk, and I migrated upstairs to rest and watch some YouTube videos. The most interesting video was probably by Morley Kort, who was making a complicated door with hidden buttons and locking mechanisms.
I also watched a man rebind an old book because I am a sucker for these types of videos. In my defence he makes a good video and is very good at what he does. Entertainment is entertainment.
I was able to do some reading last night and really enjoyed it. It’s a great thing to do before bed, relaxing and let’s you wind down for the day without any screen time.
I tried out the new lap desk on the ride home, and it felt really good. It was quick to deploy, and the extendable mouse platform worked great. It also made the little laptop fit across my thighs better.
I didn’t write per say but added in some details to my story assignment. These were things I added in that should create a bit more tension and allow for some plot moments later in the story.
That said, I added another two hundred and fifty words to the story on the ride home. I had to reread things a few times to be able to add the new stuff in the right place, otherwise I would have maybe doubled my output to five hundred words.
I am feeling good about where the story is going right now, and it is feeling like a book and TV series as I am writing it.
I purchased a couple of writing aid books the other day and they arrived this evening. Both are about character expressions and reactions for writers. I thought it would be good to have a list to consult. There is a real chance that my characters just end up sighing or squinting all the time. Nice to be able to throw in a glower or pout to spice things up.
When the misses returned from her walk, we watched the newest episode of the Daily Show and then the same for Shrinking. Shrinking just keeps getting better and better. If I have one issue with it, it is one of those shows where the characters all act and talk the same. It’s a small gripe. I like the show too much for all it’s other great attributes.
None of us are perfect after all.
Except Shawshank.
Shawshank is perfect.
Prove me wrong.
I am back in the studio tomorrow, and I plan to stop for breakfast again, because it makes me happy and because soon it will be torn down. I aim to enjoy it as often as I am forced into the city.
Viva la Bacon and Eggs!
It is St. Patrick’s today, and we aren’t doing anything for it. Not a bog thing in our household and I no longer need any reasons to drink.
I am off to bed in a moment; it’s coming up on eleven. I need to get some things prepped tomorrow evening for the arrival of the new oven. The space behind it could use a scrub and need to degrease the wall so it can accept a few new tiles.
No time for reading tonight which makes me sad. I need to switch my YouTube video time with reading, but it’s just so easy to watch the TV most nights.
Night all.
